Trained hoof trimmer and lame cow technician. 2 years, and thousands of cattle experience. all necessary equipment, and fully insured.
One of the most effective tools to help prevent lameness on your farm is observation. Someone who can look at all your cows, notice when something is wrong and fix any problems before they affect the animal. When a herd is regularly correctively trimmed, by an experienced trimmer, every hoof of every cow is individually assessed and checked for swelling, injuries and infection, as well as being shaped so that weight and pressure are distributed correctly on the hoof. Regular corrective trimming, at dry off, can help cows start their lactation without lameness effecting their potential milk production and can work out cheaper than treating a deformity or injury when it physically affects the cow.
